Active Aging Weekend
September 30 and October 1, 2011
Find fun and meaning during Active Aging Weekend: “Expand Your Experience”. Those adults ‘50 years and better’ can enjoy activities that enhance their lives during Active Aging Weekend, September 30 – October 1
BallroomUtah Dance Studio invites our neighbors to get an energy boost
[Salt Lake City, UT September 1, 2011) Among the advantages to growing older is the ability to pursue favorite pastimes, or cross some items off the bucket list. Older adults, their families and friends can walk along the many paths to meaningful activity and healthy living during 2011 Active Aging Week, which is being held Sunday, September 25 through Saturday, October 1.
Active Aging Week, organized by the International Council on Active Aging®, is designed to spread a universal message: people can live as fully as possible throughout the life span. A national observance, Active Aging Week events are fun, educational and a great way to test-drive new experiences.
BallroomUtah Dance Studio is embracing the theme “Expand your experience” by hosting a practice dance party on Friday, September 30, 2011; 8:00 – 10:00 PM and ‘Dance, Fencing, Art, Yoga, New Balance ProFit Scan System and MORE” on Saturday, October 1. 2011; 9:00 AM – Noon. http://BallroomUtah.com
“Dancing is without a doubt one of the best physical activities for the 50+ population! It is a fun and social activity that provides cardio-vascular, strength, flexibility and balance training that is essential for all to stay fit”, states Martin Skupinski, BallroomUtah Dance Studio owner.
Participation in the activities of Friday evening and Saturday morning are at no cost to people ’50 and better’. To join in call 801.916.4716 or 321.223.1580 to register today.
“Active Aging Week is a great time to connect with other people and activities,” advises Colin Milner, CEO of International Council on Active Aging. “The week’s focus is on what older adults CAN do, not on what they cannot or ‘should not’ do. By expanding their experiences, participants find the activities that have meaning for them, and maintain their health so they can pursue their avocations.” www.icaa.cc/aaw.htm
