Frontpage Content - Frontpage

All posts (Dances, Venues, Events, Lessons, Instructors, etc.) on this site are considered "Articles". You can submit an article from the "Your Input" menu. Links to create a "New Article" are also displayed at the bottom of section and category lists wherever they appear on the site. Below is what the article submission form looks like. The text along the side explains features as they appear down the page.

You must be a registered site user and be logged in to submit articles. If you are logged in and cannot submit articles use the contact form linked in the top menu to request Author rights.
  • Title: Mandatory. Keep it short and concise.
  • Save/Cancel Buttons: Always at the top
  • Editor: You won't need to use very many of the buttons and you can always press Ctrl-Z to undo or cancel to back out.
  • Format: The format dropdown in the editor toolbar is all you need to change fonts and color. The site uses dynamic styles so rather than picking your colors and sizes, pick only the formating such as paragraph, address, or a header level 1-6. You won't see the site styles applied until you save and view the actual article. Please do not set colors.
  • Links: Links are added using the chain icon in the toolbar. It is easiest to write your content first. Then select the link text with your cursor. Now click the chain icon to add the link url.
  • Images: There are 2 buttons for use with images. The tree icon in the toolbar is for editing images already in your content. You must select the image first. The second image button is below the editor window. This image button allows you to upload images to the server and/or select images on the server. Please upload to the most reasonable folder. If you do not know which to use please upload to the "Articles" folder.
  • Read More: Articles are most usable around the site when they start with a catchy paragraph. After this first paragraph click the "Read more" button below the editor. Notice the red dotted line in the sample form. Articles will not be selected for the frontpage if they do not display short enough.
  • Page Breaks: If you want to divide your article into several pages use the Pagebreak button. It will insert a page break at your cursor position and let you assign a page title for the page index which will appear at the top of every page. A link to view the article continuously is also available.
  • Videos: Use the AVR media button to insert videos.
  • Section/Category: Please select the "NEW ARTICLES" section when adding content to the site. Two categories will be populated under this section. "Articles in Progress" is where you store articles that are not quite ready. When your article content is complete change this category to "Ready to Publish".
  • Frontpage: You may select your interest in having this article displayed on the homepage. Not all articles will be selected for the frontpage. Make sure that you insert the "read more" break after your teaser paragraph and that your images are reasonable in size.
  • Author Alias: You may want a more professional author attribution than your username. Attribution is not always displayed, but where ever it may appear you can choose the title.
  • Finish Publishing: Very Important! Please make sure that your articles self expire one day after the event at most!
  • Access Level: Public is the most common. You may have reasons to only display your article to registered site users.
  • Description: Google and Facebook will use this to display text about your page. Do not underestimate the importance of having Google and Facebook help you look good.
  • Keywords: Comma separated list. Please limit this to 25 words if possible and no more than 40 words.
  • Don't forget to save (button at top)
