West Coast Swing is a fun, addictive and dynamic dance that is thriving. Here's a look at some West Coast Swing dancing on the Utah scene. Like most dances it's not uncommon to see it performed as a choreographed routine like you see here with Kyle Redd and Sarah Van Drake performing to a Jason Mraz song. But the real fun for serious west coast swing dancers is in the connection and spontaneity of dancing such as you find in Jack n Jill competitions where partners are randomly matched and dance to a song that they do not know will be played until the competition starts See Also Benji & Lacey Schwimmer In the strictly swing competitions you choose your partner, but NOT the song. Competitors are often given the choice between Blues and Contemporary songs, but that's abaout all the input they get. Still, it doesn't keep them from pulling out some sweet move on the fly like Ben Morris and Jessica Cox here.
